THE VOICE AS INSTRUMENT
This year’s festival features Louis Sporh’s Mass op. 54. for soli and double moxed chorus. Spohr, a celebrated Beethoven contemporary, presents a piece teeming with harmonic interest; a delightful symphony for the voice. An opening and closing octavo round out the festival repertoire. The compositions all utilize idiomatic instrumental practice, translated for unaccompanied voice. This year, the Rocky Mountain Chamber Singers will join the festival as the semi-chorus in the Spohr Mass.
